Carol Katrana |
For two decades, Carol
helped create fun, loving learning environments for thousands of
children while her preschool programs routinely received top ratings and
yearly commendations. Carol was the former Director of St. Martin's
Children's Center in Houston, TX and currently serves at the Lay
Minister for Early Childhood Education for St. Martin's Episcopal
Church. In addition to being a conference speaker and early childhood
consultant, she has written and teaches four-week 10-hour classes to
parents of young children throughout the year. Her book, The ABCS of
Parenting Pre-schoolers provides teachers, parents and
administrators a simple, poignant source of inspiration and she offers
quick, easy-to-remember reminders of how truly valuable adults are to
little learners. Carol is a mother, a "Mema" and former pre-school
administrator. She graduated from The University of Tennessee and is a
Paul Harris Fellow. |

Susan Schotz |
Susan Schotz has been
in education as both a teacher and administrator since 1966. Recently,
she was Head of Upper School at St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Austin,
TX, and previously, The Rivers School in Weston , MA. For most of her
professional life, she has been both an English and History teacher in
public and independent schools such as Weston High School in Weston, MA,
and Shady Side Academy in Pittsburg, PA. In addition, she was a
Co-Director of the Women's History Institute, a National Endowment for
the Humanities Summer Institute for Secondary School Teachers at Harvard
Graduate School of Education, where she was also a guest lecturer. She
is currently working with the Ann Richards School for
Young Women Leaders in Austin, TX. Susan was awarded her B.A. from the
University of Pennsylvania and her M.A. from the University of Alaska.
Her study of Women's History led her to work with a student on an
award-winning documentary, "Women in the Wings: Pittsburgh's World War
II Workers." She has won numerous teaching awards, including the William
College Olmsted Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Clark
University Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching. |

Susan Kirkpatrick |
Susan Kirkpatrick
attended Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and earned
a B.A. from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and a M.A.T.
from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. She began her independent
school career as a teacher, coach, advisor, and dorm parent at Shady
Side Academy in Pittsburgh. She was awarded a Benedum Fellowship for
Teaching Excellence and a Benedum Fellowship to study artificial
intelligence at the Turing Institute and Edinburg University in Scotland
and to teach at Fettes College in Edinburg. She has published computer
software and articles on how technology can be integrated into
curriculum, and she has presented numerous workshops at regional, state,
and national conferences. During her eighteen year tenure as the
Director of the Middle School at The Ellis School in Pittsburg, Sue
carved out a unique identity for the Middle School, broadening and
strengthening its programs and creating a school that is poised to
wrestle with 21st Century challenges. Sue served on the Board of
Directors of the Pennsylvania Association of Private Academic Schools
and on the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools Commission
for Accreditation. She currently resides in Austin with her husband
Robert, who is Head of School at St. Stephen's Episcopal School. In
addition to being a member of the SAES team of consultants, Sue is a
partner in S2 Consultants, a firm serving schools and other
non-profits. Most recently, she has been working with the Ann Richards
School for Young Women Leaders in Austin, TX. |

Jane Hill |
Jane's Hills career in
Episcopal schools began as a teacher, at one time or another, at every
level between kindergarten and fifth grade. Her teaching career was
followed by her position as a head of school, at St. Matthew's Episcopal
School, and early childhood program in Austin. She later became the
founding head of Trinity Episcopal School, also in Austin, and led the
school through the process of adding grades year by year until a full
K-8 program was in place. During her last two years at Trinity, Jane
served on the SAES Board of Trustees, and participated in numerous SAES
events and activities, including the association's accreditation
process. Following her retirement from Trinity in 2006, Jane has enjoyed
being the wife of a busy physician, mother and grandmother. Last year,
she was named as a Woman of Distinction in Central Texas, and currently
serves on the advisory board of Texas Capital Bank in Austin. She earned
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, with concentrations in
English and math, from the University of Texas at Austin. |
